NSF Announces New Solicitation for its DMREF Program

Awards could range from $1.5-$2 million over four years.

The National Science Foundation has released its 2023 solicitation for the DMREF program—part of the Materials Genome Initiative that was launched in 2011 with an objective to help develop advanced materials quickly, efficiently, and at a fraction of the cost.

In an effort to further this goal, NSF’s new Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnership has joined DMREF along with four new federal partners: Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, Office of Naval Research, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command.

This latest solicitation is open to all materials research topics, ranging from emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing to research and development of clean energy technologies and infrastructure.

The submission window is February 27 - March 13, 2023.
