Our 2025 HybriD3 Materials Theory Training Workshop was held on November 21/22, 2025. This workshop targeted primarily graduate students, early-career postdocs and senior undergraduate students in North Carolina and neighboring states, aiming to provide lectures and hands-on training on first-principles simulation techniques for complex semiconductors and quantum phenomena therein.

The workshop was attended by 70 individuals, significantly exceeding our expectations. Lectures were given by :

-Weitao Yang, Duke U. (Density Functional Theory), one of the pioneers of the field

-Olivier Delaire, Duke U. (Periodic Solids and Phonons)

-Volker Blum, Duke U. (Nuts and Bolts of Materials Simulations)

-Yosuke Kanai, UNC-CH (Molecular and Electron Dynamics)

-Mengen Wang, UNC-CH (Defects in Semiconductors and AI/ML)

-Mustafa Türe, NCSU (Quantum Phase Transition and Room Temperature Superfluorescence)

Two afternoon hands-on tutorials and a poster session completed the workshop. Program and workshop materials are available at
